HTC Desire 210 vs Xiaomi Redmi 1S - Comparison with Specifications

The Redmi 1S from Xiaomi and the Desire 210 smartphone from HTC find their place among the smartphones released in 2014.
While the HTC Desire 210 reached market in the middle of the year, the Redmi 1S found its way towards the end of the same year, 2014. Interestingly, both the smartphones are enlisted as budget smartphones, thereby making themselves available to any income group. Another advantage of owning either of these smartphones is that they are double SIM devices. This is ideal for those who have more than one GSM connection and support both 2G and 3G networks.

Design, Dimensions and Weight
The Redmi 1S features a plastic body while the HTC Desire 210 encompasses a metal casing. Additionally, the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone comprises sharper corners
than the HTC Desire smartphone. As far as the dimensions are concerned, the Redmi 1S smartphone is noticeably taller than the HTC Desire 210 smartphone.
However, it is not as wide and thick as HTC’s smartphone. But, the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone is undoubtedly the heavier smartphone.
The Redmi 1S is nearly five percent slimmer than the HTC Desire 210. Although its excess weight can make it tiring to hold the gadget for a long time in hand, the sleekness aspect causes it to look more compact when carrying in pocket. However, the metal structure of the HTC Desire smartphone ensures that it is sturdier than the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone.

Display
The bar smartphones generate 16 million colors. While the Xiaomi 1S houses an IPS LCD touch screen, the HTC Desire 210 comes with a TFT LCD touch screen.
The Xiaomi Redmi smartphone has a screen of size 4.7 inches and the HTC Desire smartphone has a 4 inch screen. The pixel resolution and pixel density of the Redmi 1S are more than that of the HTC Desire 210 smartphone. While the Xiaomi Redmi 1S has a pixel resolution and pixel density of 720 x 1280 and 312ppi, the HTC Desire 210 portrays 800 x 480 pixel resolution and 233ppi pixel density. Additionally, the Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone houses Corning Gorilla Glass 2 scratch-
resistant glass for its display screen.
With a greater pixel resolution and pixel density by about 140%, the Xiaomi 1S renders sharper
and crisper images and text. Also, the IPS display results in delivering superior contrast ratios and viewing angles. The ability to assure a scratch-free display screen gives the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone an added advantage.
Camera
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S is designed with an 8MP primary rear camera with LED flash whilst the HTC Desire 210 is equipped with a 5MP camera. The two rear cameras
have the ability to record HD videos. As with the rear camera, the secondary front camera is also better in Xiaomi’s smartphone. The Redmi 1S encompasses a 1.6MP secondary camera in contrast to the 0.3MP VGA camera in the Desire 210. While the HTC Desire 210 smartphone
supports geo-tagging, the Redmi 1S smartphone offers various other
additional functionalities like autofocus, white balance presets, real-time filters, multi-scene modes, face recognition, face and smile detection, wide angles and
more. In addition, the flash feature helps the Xiaomi 1S in producing better quality shots than the HTC One Desire 210 in low light. With approximately 60% additional pixels, the Xiaomi’s shots and videos display improved picture quality.

Hardware and Software
The Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone features an Adreno 305 graphics processor and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor that clocks at 1.6GHz. On the
other hand, the HTC Desire 210 is loaded with a Mali-400MP graphics processor and a MediaTek dual core processor with a clock frequency of 1GHz. Talking about the inbuilt RAM, Xiaomi makes 1GB RAM available on its smartphone as against 512MB offered by HTC. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S features 8GB ROM as internal storage and external memory expansion possibility of up to 64GB. On similar lines, the HTC Desire 210 consists of 4GB ROM and an option of increasing this externally with a memory card by 32GB.
Both smartphones runs on Android Jelly Bean operating system with a slight difference in the versions used. The Xiaomi Redmi 1S smartphone uses the 4.3 version while the HTC Desire 210 smartphone incorporates the 4.2 version. It is worth noting that the operating system is upgradeable to the next couple of versions in Xiaomi’s smartphone.
With better processors and inbuilt RAM, performance is faster and smoother in the Xiaomi Redmi
1S. Also, this smartphone has more memory both internally and externally enabling the storage of more multimedia files. The operating system upgradeability gives the Xiaomi Redmi smartphone yet another point entirely.
