Blackberry May Stop Making Smartphones

Last Updated: July 28, 2015

I was shocked to have heard the BlackBerry CEO, John Chen who admitted that he may eventually have to shelve manufacturing Blackberry devices. A significant increase in revenue from enterprise software pushed the company to focus more in that direction, and as a cost cutting measure, laid off some staff just recently. He also admitted there’s pressure internally to continue making smartphones. One of the challenges of shifting focus to software from devices is pressure from within the company to keep developing new smartphones. With the struggle to stay relevant and attain profitability, Blackberry smartphones may just be the scapegoat.
I was like what caused this, later on I thought it might be the existence on Android smartphones. Would you be happy to see Blackberry Company going of action and out of smartphone market as well.
